Peru … and it’s perfect for the family

What makes Peru a great trip for families?  Let me tell you the ways!

  • No Jet lag from North America
  • Completely different culture and hemisphere
  • Lot’s of activities like riding horses, white water rafting, exploring ancient ruins
  • Amazing scenic beauty
  • Shopping, shopping, shopping – the exchange rate goes a long way

We flew to Lima and had a quick overnight at Costa Del Sol Ramada Airport Lima Hotel which is just across the skywalk and baggage claim.

Next morning off to Cusco to meet our friendly guide Juan de Dios who whisked us away on a comfortable Mercedes for to start our family adventure.

Day #1 we are off to visit:

Day #2 let’s visit:

  • The Pisac market
  • Dancing outside the local church
  • Empanadas that were cooked in an ancient community oven
  • The ruins of Ollantaytambo
  • Winding paths taking us to unknown adventures

Time to board the Vistadome train to Machu Picchu just 1.5 hours away in the small town of Aguas Calientes.

Day #3 and the highlight of our trip was upon us. We walked the 5 minutes from the hotel to the bus stop where mini buses depart about every 15 minutes for the 20 minute ride.

Here is what we saw.   Just amazing!
